Age Concern Calderdale is a local charity and part of a national federation, which aims to help older people make more of life. We provide a wide range of information, advice, support and services to a large number of older people. We provide ICT training, health education courses, vocational training for staff, as well as art and craft and social activities within our Day Care Services. 

Age Concern Calderdale provides Day Care services for around 400 people each week.  Those attending are encouraged to take part in activities that help to promote their physical and emotional well-being.  

Many traditional activities have historic links to the local textile industries. The Grundtvig II project, Art and Crafts across Europe enables older people to raise awareness of traditional art and craft skills, share experiences and learn about new skills and other cultures.

 The crafts presented are

• felt-making

• rug-making

• quilting

• patchwork 

• collage.
